Encaustic Wax Parties

The word encaustic originates from the Greek word enkaustikos which means to burn in, and this element of heat is necessary for a painting to be called encaustic. This technique was first used in
the Fayum mummy portraits from Egypt around 100–300 AD. Using beeswax and natural pigments for colouring, the wax was heated and then burned onto wood or other materials to make beautiful pictures.

The easiest form of a modern Encaustic wax picture is made using a small iron on paper, where you can make amazing and beautiful fantasy pictures and this allows anyone at all, without any particular artistic talent to be able to have fun and create beautiful pictures.

These creations can be very revealing and you can go on to interpret what you see and feel in a picture.

This is something that anyone can be shown how to do and you will be surprised at how much you can read, even if you’ve never done anything like this before.

Be daring and unique - Invite your friends and have a wonderful fun afternoon or evening together, creating and interpreting each
others pictures, then take home your masterpieces to admire.
